Can You Count On Your Brakes?

posted on

Most of us never think about the brakes on our cars unless they give us a good reason to. These reasons could be a screech as you stop your vehicle or having to Brake Repair in Ocean areatake more time to stop. Below are great some great tips to help you prevent brake issues.

Preventative maintenance is key when it comes to your brakes. You want to make sure you are treating your brakes well. This could mean not forgetting to release your parking brake before you start to drive and not riding your brakes when you drive. Also, remember to only slam on your brakes if it is an emergency.

You should have your brake fluid checked routinely and replaced when it is recommended or required. Even if you don’t notice problems with your brakes, they are a part of your vehicle and you don’t want to skimp on them. You should have your brakes routinely checked.

Understanding the need for preventative maintenance and doing it is great; however, there will come a time when you must install new brakes. Will you know when that will be?

The following are some scenarios that you will want to watch out for.

  • The most obvious indicator that you may need your brakes checked or replaced is if the brake warning light is on, this is your vehicles way of sensing and telling you the brakes need checking.
  • When using your brakes, you should not hear squealing or grinding, These noises can mean your brakes are worn.
  • Is your foot is going to the floor when you push on your brakes, or getting soft? This is an indicator to get your brakes checked.

You count on your brakes to do their job. Here at Ocean Area Tire, we want to keep you safe on the road. Come by or schedule your appointment with us today!
